... about SOUND Quality

Everyone has it's own way to describe the sound quality of recordings that sometimes had taken a long way till it reached their final hands.

So here is my attempt to do this.

My RATING SYSTEM divides into sound quality, level of audiance noises and grade of background humming.

I do not care so much about GENERATIONS, because for me the sound quality is the only thing that matters! I rather like a excellent 5th. generation recording than a bad sounding copy from master. In time of digital recording, generations doesn't make any sense to me anyway!
Anyway I include them for collectors information, where M is a Master in my possesion, 0 is a CDR copy of Master source, 1 is first generation from Master copy, thus 2 is second generation from master copy...

The QUALITY Rate is regarding the base  quality in sound and the degree of disortions in the recording. Overall I rate very restrictive in comparisation of many other traders I met. So if in doubt of a specific rating expect rather a better quality.

For stuff in the A categrory you'll surely have a very enjoyable live experiance. So you don't have to fear particular hollow sounds or any audiance annoyances if no extra mark is given.  However you can't expect sound quality of regular produced releases on A and A- stuff. The A+ was only given at absolutely excellent recordings that do share near studio production qualities.
Die-hard fans and collecters should also take a look at the B quality recordings.

The Sign "&" is marked if you have to expect more than usual audiance participation live recordings normally have.

The Sign " ° " is marked if you have to expect a slightly background humming. Reason: this recordings are mostly copies of one or more previous dub-processes or low recording-level.
After year 2000 (and the extinction of tapes) this sign means some creaking either due technical problems during the recording or the digital cloning.

Those people who prefers the decimal rating-system :
This can be an orientation: 10 ~ A+ ;  9,5 ~ A ; 9 ~ A- ; 8 ~ B+  ....whereto & or ° means a depreation about 0,5 point.

I will make you a CD-R. As I am concentrating my tradings on CDR now I do not trade on tape sources any more.
The CD-R comes without tracklist - as they are given on this website ( click & and copy them) - and without case as this reduces shipping costs and they break anyway.

Expect about 3 weeks time for dubbing + shipping.  For Non-European people look for 4-6 weeks. I'll put an email after I did the posting to keep you on track.

Of course you will understand, that I do also expect the same standards and reliability for the things you'll put into the trade.

I hope you'll find my rating system useful to give you a glimpse about the sound quality of the recordings of your interest.
